This year we met Igor Gurovich at the AGI Open congress happened in Bienne. Luckily we had the chance to make an interview.  
Gurovich is a Russian graphic designer specialized in posters. In this page you can see our interview and his work.  

A LOT OF POSTERS...

Question:  

If you need to make a poster in Cyrillic or in Latin letters is different?

Answer:  

Is very very different, sometimes I think that Cyrillic, is more similar to Chinese than to Latin letters.

Question:  

Is a problem for a graphic designer if in Europe some people can't understand what you write?

Answer:  

No, roman alphabet is better understandable, we all can read it but we can't understand the meaning. Cyrillic type is graphic, is good for "loud text" like “aaahhhh”.

Question:  

Is Russia changed in these years? and how this has influenced your work?

Answer:  

Of course is changed, is a big worry for me, I try to keep my territory, but Russia come to my territory, take a part of my confortable life.

Question:  

In Russia it’s more difficult to work than in other countries?

Answer:  

Yes in democratic part of Russian history, a short one, it was great for work, design beginning in Russia, all the ways was open, now with crisis and buisness the free space of graphic design become everyday smaller and smaller.

In Moskow there was 200 theatres, a lot of work a lot musicians and exibithions, we had the possibility to do design, now is difficoult because all museums and theatres have buisness problems.

Question:  

When you make a poster you work in team or alone?

Answer:  

Sometimes alone, sometimes in team, it depends to the project that I have to do.

Question:  

Do you make brainstorming with your collegues when you work?

Answer:  

Yes, sometimes is normal because it's interesting to speak with people about design.

Question:  

How many are you in your study?

Answer:  

Eleven or twelve, we work all the time, no holiday, no Sunday.

Question:  

Who is your favorite past graphic designer in Russia?

Answer:  

There are a lot of great people, maybe you know Aleksei Gan.

Question:  

So you are ispired by past graphic designer in Russia?

Answer:  

Yes of course, there are a lot of great posterman, Stenberg brothers for example. A lot of person from all the countries that produce simple but very strong design for books cover, for magazines cover. A lot of a lot of a lot of.

Question:  

You have done a poster about Rodchenko, is he important for you?

Answer:  

Yes, of course. There are something like spirit communication between us. One part of me loves him, buy the other part hates him.

Question:  

When you are looking for images you use a personal archive?

Answer:  

I have one million lines, eyes, noses, fingers, sheets is my million daughter.

Question:  

Do you think posters are important in Russia?

Answer:  

I think no, but Russia is very big, there are a lot of small groups of people like intelligent group, punk group, terrorist group, the intelligent class is very very small but for these people posters are very important artifact.

Question:  

You made a lot of posters, but have you a poster that is special for you?

Answer:  

No. No special poster, I like a lot of my posters.

Question:  

Do you teach in a school?

Answer:  

Yes.

Question:  

Do you like teaching?

Answer:

In this poster about Rodchenko there is Mickey Mouse, why?

Answer:  

A lot of people speaking about Rodchenko, and he is like Mickey Mouse because... ehhh like matrioska, like.

question:  

What do you teach at school?

answer:  

I’m professor, 3 years in school of economics and only one in design school. I think that design must be free. I think that is a very special lesson.

Question:  

Do you like teaching?

Answer:
